Bongo's Bingo Charity of the Month
Positive Futures
July 5, 2023
At Bongo’s Bingo we believe that every young person deserves access to resources and support to reach their full potential and thrive in adulthood. Unfortunately, not all young people and families have equal opportunities, and we believe in the power of community to support our youth to brighter futures. That is why we are honoured to share our charity of the month Positive Futures.
Positive Futures is a charitable youth organisation based in North Liverpool working with young people ages 8 to 24 years old, giving them access to support, guidance and opportunities.
They provide incredible opportunities, with services ranging from a variety of open access programmes and helping young people on a one-to-one basis through their Targeted Support Service and Family Support Service.
Young people are welcomed into their activity programme, where they can get to know the staff who will give them the support they need to thrive. Whether this is needed for issues with confidence, relationships, school, home or when out on the street. The Positive Futures team work tirelessly to make young people feel safe, secure, and welcome in a safe environment where they can become empowered to achieve their potential.
“Our ambition is to empower young people in Liverpool to achieve their potential through engagement, education, empowerment and enterprise.” Says Clare Corran, CEO of Positive Futures.
Mental Health concerns (including anxiety, depression, low mood, suicidal ideation, self-harm, and disordered eating) make up 46% of the hundreds (up from 30% 20-21) of referrals in 21-22 (up from 30% 20-21). This doesn’t include the Acute Childhood Experience referrals (ACEs), which accounted for an additional 6%, Many of the issues are of a complex nature with implications on staffing, qualifications and support.
As a youth organisation they are constantly evolving and adapting to suit the needs of young people. They work 24/7 supporting children and young people into a brighter future.
